Change in the Workplace
I love change. I thrive on it. I hate sitting still. I hate being in a stagnant environment. Why is it that everyone hates change so much? Change is the only constant in life. You grow old, that’s a change. You make more or less money each year, that’s a change. Your day is never the same…I guarantee it. You eat something different everyday! Change is always around us. From what I have seen in my short existence is to embrace change and you will move up in the world. Not being satisfied with where you are in your organization, not being satisfied with the status quo. Embrace it. Look for changes in your work. Can something be done better? Are their steps that are useless? Make the changes and you’ll see a difference.

Sometimes, even the people out there who are supposed to be change agents, sometimes reject change at every chance they get.Case in point. I work with Lean Six Sigma belts. Lean Six Sigma is a process improvement tool that utilizes statistical data to determine and justify change to a process. Everytime we make a change to a process at the HQ level, guess who is the first to complain about the change??!! That’s right, those belts. You think they are going to get anywhere in their lives complaining about change, when they themselves are supposed to be agents of change? Where is their credibility??
My point is, don’t be afraid of change. Keep an open mind. It’ll take you far!
